Mmmmm...moussaka

I came home from Greece inspired to create a my own version of their moussaka. Mine is made with chicken in place of veal and nested into an eggplant shell. It was really very tasty if I do say so myself!

Medieval Town of Rodos

The Bee Museum

Honey is a big part of the Mediterranean diet...think of all that yummy baklava...we picked up some of the local nectar here at the Bee Museum. I bought jars of roasted mixed nuts steeping in sweet golden goodness. One of the best things we ate while in Greece was their simple desert of Greek yogurt covered with the honeyed nuts...it was delicious!

Relaxing in Greece

Here's Earl and me taking a break from strolling around Medieval Rodo's. We were able to walk around the whole town in what used to be "the moat".

Taryn gathered rocks on the beach in front of our hotel. You can just make out Turkey in the background.

Rhodes Island, Greece Spring Break 2008

Rhodes, Greece was voted #5 in Trip Advisors Top 100 Places to Visit in the World...unfortunatly we went during the OFF season and the entire town we were staying in was closed down...literally...it was like walking in a ghost town...we kept expecting to see a tumbleweed roll down the deserted street...eerie. Lucky for us we made our own fun and had a good time. The majority of the island was not operating...deserted theme parks and boarded up McDonald's (not that we would have gone to those places but it paints a picture)...but the Medieval Town of Rodo's was in full swing and let's not forget our 20 minutes at the fascinating Bee Museum. We'll have to return to Greece another time, another island to quell the need for me to visit my "fantasy" of Greece...but we'll always have some fond and quirky memories of Rhodes.
