What Time Is It????

Time differences have always driven me bonkers! The well meaning friend that calls at 4:00 am because they are sure it's 8:00 am your time, the missed opportunity to chat because you realize it's 10:00 pm at a friends before you've even eaten dinner...arrrgh! It doesn't take much of a time difference to really throw you off. If my calculations are correct here's where we are all at right now.

Ono memories...Diamond Head Theatre

Sunday afternoon we attended our last show at the Diamond Head Theatre. Earl thought is was very appropriate that the musical was a Hawaiian original "You Somebody", a colorful comedy about a Hawaiian woman and her quest to be mentioned in a who's who type column in a local paper. Plenty kine pidgin talk...wha? No can understand? Me either!

Over the last few years our favorite shows have included Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Disney's Aladdin, La Cage Aux Folles, and The Full Monty.

Ono memories...Roy's Restaurant

It took me a couple of years here to even try Roy's Restaurant...a legendary local restaurant...one bite of their "Blackened Ahi with Soy Mustard Sauce and Beurre Blanc" and I was hooked! Hard to believe we've been in Hawaii for over four years. Check out little Taryn, only nine years old in this picture, what a cutie pie. Until we get to Italy I'll highlight some of our favorite Hawaii moments. Now, I've gotta go...I'm off to hike to this lighthouse!

Trash Talk

You might want to check out the link below to Yahoo's Italy News to see the latest on the garbage situation in Naples. The garbage men have been on strike since May and it's created a pretty smelly situation. I have heard from friends that this is nothing new in Naples where the Italian Mafia or Camorra run rampant. Earl thinks it looks a little worse than when he was there in the late 90's but we'll just take it in stride. When the garbage piles get too big the Neopolitans simply set them on fire. Groovy, I always like a good bon fire...s'mores anyone?

Aloha Hawaii, Ciao Italy

It's almost time to say goodbye to beautiful Hawaii and start our new adventure in Italy. I'm going to attempt to self educate myself on blogging so that I can share our experiences with friends and family. I am completly new to this and a little intimidated by some of the beautiful sites I have checked out. Let's just call this a work in progress. They say the only way to learn how to blog is to "just start doing it" so here goes. Wish me luck.
